I HAVE DONE 12,000 TROUBLE FREE MILES SINCE LAST OCTOBER. I DO DRIVE IT LIKE A NERVOUS NUN TO SAVE ON FUEL AS I USE IT FOR WORK, BUT IT DOES REGULARY RETURN 38 MPG ACCORDING TO THE COMPUTER. STARTS, GOES, STOPS JUST AS AUDI INTENDED. THE ENGINE IS VERY QUIET, SMOOTH AND VERY POWERFUL AND IT EATS MOTORWAYS FOR BREAKFAST !!! A VERY COMFORTABLE CAR WITH PLENTY OF OOMMPPPHHH IF YOU NEED IT. BODYWORK IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION CONSIDERING AGE AND MILEAGE, NO RUST. CLIMATE CONTROL WORKS PERFECTLY AND THE AIR IS ICE COLD WHEN NEEDED. GEARS, CLUTCH. BRAKES ETC ARE SPOT ON. THE O/S FRONT CV JOINT HAS RECENTLY STARTED “CLICKING” ON RIGHT TURN FROM STANDSTILL, A COMMON FAULT SO I AM TOLD. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE CV JOINT WILL LAST FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS ONLY GETTING SLOWLY PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER. Piece of front grill missing under front bumper. 2. Starting problem – after a few quick journies within space of 10 minutes if car has been turned off say more than 3 times, sometimes won’t start until engine has cooled back down. ALWAYS starts eventually, maybe after 5 or 10 mins. Seems to work fine if climate control is set at 21 degress or less. Doesn’t do it if it’s been on a long drive – you can start it straight back up . Not done it for a couple of months but feel we need to mention it to be fair. Could have sold it without mentioning this because you probably won’t notice it. Starts every time in cold weather. Been to Audi garage and they can’t diagnose a problem with it. We bought car for over £2,000 with knowledge of this problem and we have managed with it. Still think car was worth it. Other than this drives perfectly – very smooth and comfortable ride. This car has full black leather interior with heated front seats and walnut wood inserts, 4x electric windows duel zone climate control which is ice cold!! Audi A6 which I’ve had since 2004. It started using oil about three months ago garage said could be rocker covers could be turbo – is the power down? At that stage it was ok so we changes rocker cover gaskets. As soon as car came back from garage guess what? No power, still burning oil. So off comes turbo, sent off to be rebuilt and refitted. This has cost about £600 out of estimated value for car of £1500. Now garage tells me that another MOT will cost £1200 so forget it. Their estimate includes- Headlamps aimed too high, £407 (surely headlamps can be adjusted?) bulbs £15.30, brake poads all round £91.24, front discs £78.50, rear discs £78.36, rear tyres £125.00, labour £200. So there you are. If yuo are able it could be repaired, or would do for spares. The current MOT runs out on 14th June 2011, there is no tax unless you want to buy the disc from me (expires end of sept) Car is basically ok but used as you would expect from 13 years old.
